Obituary of James Andrew Nord

James A. Jr. Nord Vestal: James A. Nord, Jr., 81, of Vestal, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013, after a long illness. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Evelyn Nord. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Mae (Eldredge); his 5 children, James (Chris) Nord III of Sherburne, Debbie (Rich) Counts of Apalachin, Wendy (Shawn) Cunningham of Vestal, Cindy Nord (Vern Tyrrell) of Vestal, Richard Nord (Lori Leitner) of Johnson City; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Weber of Elmira. Jim was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired employee of IBM-Owego. Jim will be known for his love of this country and his Fourth of July firework extravaganza. The family would like to thank Dr. Baron for his compassionate care, a special thanks to the home care providers, Verna, Charlene and Carolyn, and to the overnight shift, Antonio, Teresa and Bobbi, for their exceptional care. The family would also like to thank the staff of Interim HealthCare, Family & Children Society, and Lourdes Hospice. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main St., Endicott. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of James A. Nord, Jr. may be made to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.
