Obituary of Juliana Cross

Julie (Sokol) Cross Julie (Sokol) Cross, 93, of Endwell, died Tuesday November 19, 2013 at Ideal Senior Living Center. Julie was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Johanna (Sokol) Cross; sisters Tatiana, Anna and Mary; brothers Michael, John and Andrew and her daughter Maeva Jean. Julie is survived by her husband Lionel of 70 years; son Daniel, his wife Sue and grandson Alexander; sisters-in-law Alexandra Sokol, Maple Heights, OH, Helen Sokol, Old Forge, PA; several nieces and nephews. Julie was born in Old Forge, PA on March 28, 1920. She attended Old Forge Public Schools. After school she attended Russian School at St. Michael's Orthodox Church. After high-school she entered Pittston Hospital School of Nursing graduating as a Registered Nurse. After graduating from nursing training, she worked in hospitals in New York City during World War II until she moved to Davenport, IA to join her husband. After the war, she joined IBM's Medical Dept. where she worked for 25 years during which she advanced to Sr. Nurse and received the Nationally Certified Occupational Health Nurse Certificate. She retired in 1976. Julie was a parishioner of Sts Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Endicott since 1946. A funeral service will be offered at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 210 Hill Ave, Endicott on Friday at 10:30 a.m. The Very Rev. Alexey Karlgut, Pastor of her church will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Julie may be made to the Elevator and Sunday School Fund, Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 210 Hill Ave. Endicott, NY 13760.
