Obituary of James L. Benson
James L. Benson, 80 of Endicott went to be with the Lord Saturday morning January 11, 2014 at Ideal Senior Living Center. He was predeceased by his two daughters, Julie Kay Nasoni and Kathleen L. Benson and his granddaughter Valerie. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna Benson; daughter and son in law, Patricia and Don Ross; son, William Benson; grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Ciaccia, Rebecca (Kevin) Salter, Julie (Nasoni)(Eric) Marhefka; and six great grandchildren. He was a graduate of Union Endicott High School Class of 1951. A Veteran of the Korean conflict serving in the US Army, serving in the Fifth Infantry Division, First Battalion, Second Infantry Regiment, Company B and served in the U.S. zone of Germany. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Endicott. A retired employee of the Village of Endicott, serving with the fire department for 22 years. He was a Certified Public Accountant and was owner/operator of James L. Benson Accounting. He enjoyed hunting (big game and small), fishing, camping and golfing. He was always there to lend a hand whenever someone needed it. He had a wonderful sense of humor with a zest for life. The family would like to thank the staff of Ideal Senior Living Center for their wonderful care of James. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00PM, from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC. 300 East Main Street, Endicott. The Rev. Mark Marino, pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at 1:00PM.
