Obituary of Floyd M. Corson
Floyd Martin Corson, Jr.
Floyd Martin Corson, Junior of Apalachin, NY went to be with our Lord on January 24, 2014 after a long illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Floyd Martin Corson, Sr. and Edna (Mahler) Corson, and his sister Lois (Corson) Harris. He is survived by his devoted caregiver, friend, and loving wife of 52 years, Marion (Vosburgh) Corson. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Pamela (Gilchrist) Corson, Kentucky; daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Corson) and Thomas Long, Maryland; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Philip and Alice (Widney) Corson, Arizona; sister-in-law Mildred (Vosburgh) Yakey; and many dear relatives including cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, friends, and their families.
Floyd was born in Montour Falls, NY and lived in Florida and Oregon before returning to Upstate New York as a young man. He served in the Air Force at Sparrevohn Alaska and later on Long Island with the 52nd Materiel Squadron. Floyd worked as an independent contractor and enjoyed the challenge of small engine and bicycle repair, earning the neighborhood nickname "Mower Man." He shared a love of automobiles and mechanics with his son, and a love of puns and word play with his daughter. He and his wife shared a love of music, from playing piano and trumpet duets early in their marriage to listening to Lawrence Welk reruns on TV later in their lives. Floyd loved to go for walks and leisurely drives, to poke around at garage sales, eat at small diners, and to strike up conversations with friends, neighbors, or perfect strangers. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and they enjoyed time spent with him as well.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Lourdes Hospice for their caring service and support.
The family will receive friends at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Rte 434 Apalachin, NY from 11:00am to 12:30pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Funeral Service to follow at 12:30pm.
