Obituary of Esther D. Pollak
ESTHER D. POLLAK (Hasenflue)
Esther D. Pollak, 97 of Port Crane, NY, passed away January 26th at Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Vestal. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Deliah Hasenflue; her husband, John Pollak, brothers Earl, Edward, James, Donald, John and Charles Hasenflue, sisters Eva Brodhead and Margaret Bell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Rocky Porzio; her grandson, Shane Porzio and his wife, Laura; great-grandchildren Ben, Jacob and Clara Porzio; sisters Jennie Smith, Clara Hasenflue, and Elsie Vasilevich; brother Frank Hasenflue; and special friends, Ajit and Debbie Trivedi. We would like to acknowledge and thank Sister Karen from St. Francis of Assisi Church, the staff and residents of Emeritus at Woodland Manor Assisted Living Home for making Esther's final years comfortable and pleasant; Dr. Szabo for his caring manner, and the Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center staff for Esther's care in her final days. Esther was born in Susquehanna, PA in 1916 and attended Binghamton High School. She worked at Kroehler Furniture Manufacturing in Binghamton. She was a caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, baking and sewing in her spare time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal on January 30, 2014 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main Street, Vestal on January 30, 2014 from 9:30 am to 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Esther may be made to Hospice East, 4102 Old Vestal Rd, Vestal, NY 13850 or the Port Crane Fire Department, 844 State Route 369, Port Crane, NY 13833.
