Obituary of James Howenstein

James W. Howenstein Of Maine, NY James W. Howenstein, 78, of Maine, NY, died peacefully May 3, 2007 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Agnes Carney Howenstein; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan ans Stanley Lisk, Maine, NY, Betsey Banks, North Syracuse, NY, Melissa and Michael Barbato, Guilderland, NY five grandchildren, James Lisk, Monica Lisk, Holly Garcia, Melanie Barbato, Lindsay Barbato; a great-grandson, Jose Garcia; a sister, Jane Witter, Raleigh, NC. Jim retired in 1986 from Ford New Holland Farm Equipment Co., Cortland, NY, after 25 years. He recently worked at AVRE, Binghamton. He was a master wood carver and was a national and world award winning carver of ducks and other waterfowl. Jim was an expert skeet and trapshooter most of his life. A memorial service will be held 12:00 noon, Monday, at the Maine Federated Church, 2615 Main St., Maine. The Rev. Steven Johnson, Pastor of the church, will officiate. The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the church.
