Obituary of Loris W Malick
Loris W. Malick
Of Endwell
Mr. Malick passed away May 24th at home with family at his side. He was born in Kirby, West Virginia, on July 14, 1913. After graduating from high school in Romney, W. Va., he traveled with two friends during the dust bowl era to Lincoln, Nebraska, to attend flying school. At the age of 21 he traveled back east to Binghamton, NY to apply for work at I.B.M. He retired from I.B.M. as a mechanical engineer in 1981 after 47 years of service. He was an expert marksman and won many trophies in competitions for the I.B.M. Country Club Rifle Team, winning the club championship for many years. He was also an avid hunter who took annual trips to South Dakota to hunt pheasants with friends. Traveling across America to attend World Fairs and to Quebec to fish brought him much pleasure.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Alice; and infant son, Allen. Survived by sons Gene and Fred, daughters, Melanie, Cecilia, Lisa and Aleta; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also survived by special friends, Elma Ackley, Delores Sinchak, Manny and Patti Feijoo, Frank LaBella, and Dick Beatty.
There will be no calling hours per Mr. Malicks request. The family will hold a graveside memorial service when he is interred in West Virginia. The family would like to thank all employees and volunteers of Meals on Wheels and Lourdes Hospice for caring so thoughtfully for him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be given to Meals on Wheels of Western Broone, 705 West Main St., Endicott, NY 13760; Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850; or the charity of ones own choice in his memory.
