Obituary of Frederick M Garber

Frederick M. Garber Of Vestal Frederick M. Garber, 77, of Vestal, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Ira Davenport Hospital in Hammondsport, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Barney and Ida Garber; a brother, Nathan; and five sisters, Helen, Eunice, Dorothy, Mary and Lena. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Garber, Vestal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Emily and Douglas Arthur, Guilderland, NY; Catherine and James Paulson, Mendon, NY; son, David Garber, San Diego; four grandchildren, Nicholas Paulson, Mark Paulson, Abagail Paulson, and Alena Arthur, several nieces, and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was a retired, distinguished professor of Comparative Literature at SUNY Binghamton. He was the author of several books and numerous literary articles, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc. 765 Main St., Vestal. Rabbi Rachael Esserman will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5- 7 P.M..
