Edgar L. Baker
Of Endicott
Edgar L. Baker, 86, of Endicott, died Tuesday evening, September 25, 2007, at his home. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Flinn Baker. He is survived by his children, Susan Carol Houghtalen, Endicott, Richard and his wife, Denise Baker, Phoenix, Arizona, Regina Thomas, La Mesa, California; grandchildren, Tina Dumas, Gregory Houghtalen, Jared Houghtalen, Andrew Baker, Benjamin Baker, Andrea Manning, Alissa Pazik, Matthew Pazik; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Edgar was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Navy as a Gunners
Mate in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He left the Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class and worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard until 1965, when he joined IBM Endicott and Owego Federal Systems Division. He retired from IBM in 1986 and considered retirement as the best job he ever had. He loved to play golf and was a member of Endicott Elks #1977 BPOE and American Legion Post #1700.
The funeral service will be held 9:00 a.m., Saturday at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St, Endicott. The Rev. Susan Davis, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Endicott, will officiate. Burial will be in Thyatira Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Millbridge, N.C.
The family will receive friends 6:00 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Those wishing may make contributions to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.
