Julia (Katsaris) Monroe

Julia Dorothy (Katsaris) Monroe, 78, a lifelong resident of Endicott and a resident the past 4 years at Marion Apts, Endwell, died on October 26, 2007, at Absolut Care, Endicott, NY., following several months of failing health after a broken hip. She was retired from SUNY Binghamton Auxiliary Food Service (College in the Woods) and worked for years on Washington Ave., Endicott, at the Victory Lunch and at one time co-managed the Royal Coachman Coffee Shop, W. Endicott, with her husband who predeceased her, Philip L. Monroe, October 6, 1992; mother and father, Georgia Katsaris, Harry Katsaris; brothers, Johnny and George Katsaris; sister, Stella Harris; nephew, Bobby Grippen, all of Endicott. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frank and Donna Borrelli, Grand Bay, Ala.; grandchildren, Alyssa Booth and husband, Brett, Jarrett Baker, Ocean Springs, Miss.; sisters, Mary Conklin, Chris Gower, Katherine Matola, Jane Grippen; brother, Sam Kataris and wife, Grace; a special sister-in-law, Ann Katsaris; as well as a niece and several nephews. She was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother who was always proud of her Greek heritage.
Honoring her wishes, calling hours will be open to family and friends for one hour on October 31, 2007, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main St., Endicott.
