Helen G. Curtis Chapin
Of Vestal Center
Helen G. Chapin, 86, of Vestal Center, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 5, 2007, in Montrose, Pa. She is predeceased by her first husband, Walter L. Curtis; and her second husband, Fletcher E. Chapin; her parents, Lee and Virginia Blakeslee; also two brothers, Edward and Robert Blakeslee; and her stepson, Kenneth J. Chapin. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles E. and Carole M. Curtis, Vestal, Gordon L. and Sandra E. Curtis, Forest Lake, Pa., Eugene P. and Clara Curtis, Fairfield, California; her stepchildren, Fletcher W. and Elva J. Chapin, Johnson City, Alvin E. and Jean Chapin, Johnson City, Lelia C. Chapin, Conn., 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Lois Blakeslee, New Milford, PA; also several nieces and nephews. Helen was a member of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She has been an active member of the Vestal Senior Citizens Club since 1970. She was an employee of IBM working in the IBM cafeteria in Owego. Helen and Fletcher enjoyed bowling in the Senior IBM Bowling League.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. Roger L. Frederick, Pastor of her church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing may make contributions in Helens memory to The Memorial Fund of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, 478 West Hills Rd., Vestal, NY 13850, or to the Vestal Senior Citizens Club, c/o Vivian Bechtel (Treasurer), 109 South Circle Drive, Vestal, NY 13850.
