Lula Card of Owego
Lula Card, 86, of Owego, went to be with her Lord on December 28, 2007 at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home, Owego. She was born on May 2, 1921. She married Elmer Card on April 17, 1938, and they were married for 49 years; he predeceased her in December, 1986. They started out together on a small farm, which they eventually sold and went to work in the restaurant business. They ran Phil's Chicken House in Owego for many years before their retirement. Lula liked to do crafts and collected bears and dolls. She was a member of the South Owego Bible Church for many years, and loved serving in her church in any way that she could. Lula is survived by her children, Phillip and Dottie Card, Endicott, Joyce and Ben Vanderburg, Vestal Center, Allen and Sue Card, Owego, Robert and Bonnie Card, Florida, and Nancy and Skip Scott, Halsey Valley, N.Y. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, more than 60 in all; also many nieces and nephews, and other family members.
Funeral services for Lula will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 434, Apalachin, with the Rev. Craig Hall and the Rev. Adrian Essigmann officiating. Burial will follow in Vestal Hills Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her church, the South Owego Bible Church, 6193 Montrose Turnpike, Owego, N.Y. 13827.
