Obituary of Richard L. Mikels
Richard L. Mikels, Sr.of Endicott
Richard L. Mikels, Sr., 75, of Endicott, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 7, 2008, at Wilson Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Frances Mikels; and infant sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Mikels; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Karen Mikels, and Bruce and Cindy Mikels, Endicott; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Mark Holbrook, Montrose, Pa., Susan and Kenneth Jorgensen, Nanuet, N.Y., Sheila and Dan Stulir, Endwell; a sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Jerry Cooney, Maine, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Mae Stoddard, Montrose, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and one great-grandson, several nieces and nephews. Richard was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retiree of IBM Endicott. He was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion. He was an avid gardener who loved his winters in Florida, and also enjoyed singing karaoke. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his friends and loving family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main Street, Endicott, with the Rev. David Cook officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations in his memory to the West Corners Lions Club in care of Chris Chechatka, 836 Zeggert Road, Endicott, N.Y. 13760.
