Obituary of Edith Wrighton
Edith L. Wrightonof Endicott
Edith L. Wrighton, 89, of Endicott, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Ideal Senior Living Center where she resided for the past six years. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Wrighton in 2006; and her daughter, Barbara (Wrighton) Mlynarski in 2005; and her son, Bruce Wrighton in 1988. She is survived by her son-in-law, Theodore Mlynarski; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Mlynarski, both of Endicott; one brother, Kenneth Hopper, British Columbia, Canada; and several nieces and nephews. Edith was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She moved to Ithaca, N.Y. after marrying Richard in 1944 where she became a United States Citizen shortly thereafter. She was a devoted wife and mother, a talented painter and a skilled pianist, and a longtime volunteer in both community and church activities. She and her husband, Richard, joined the Northminster Presbyterian Church after moving to Endwell in 1972. She assisted in the church's adult daycare program for many years before becoming a participant in the program herself later in life. She also entertained residents at the Willow Point Nursing Home by playing piano there for over 20 years. She received an award from that facility for providing more than 1,500 hours of service to the residents. The family would like to thank the staff at Ideal Senior Living Center for their loving care of Edith.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Ideal Senior Living Center, 600 High Ave., Endicott, N.Y. 13760. Arrangements are by the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott.
