Obituary of Leland F. Pickering

Leland F. Pickering Sr.of Vestal Leland F. Pickering Sr., 86, of Vestal, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 16, 2008. He is predeceased by his wife, June M. (Blish) Pickering. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea (Richard) Bird, Marie (John) Schneider; one son and daughter-in-law, Leland (Fred) (Clara) Pickering Jr.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Edith (Bill) Wilbur, Montrose, Pa. Leland was a retired carpenter and a member of Carpenters Union 281. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army and was a member of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church. A Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. Roger L. Frederick, Pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Vestal Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Those wishing may make contributions in Leland's memory to the Memorial Fund at the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, 478 West Hill Road, Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
