Eugene H. Wooleverof Vestal
Eugene H. Woolever, 84, of Vestal, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the Ideal Nursing Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Daniel Woolever; and a brother, Robert Woolever. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma; his children, Sharon Woolever, Rebecca and Charles Sisson, Gary and Patricia Woolever, Jeffrey Woolever, and Donnie Davie and her son, Joey, Kimberly and Scott Avery; grandchildren, Francine and husband, Robert Sauber, Jodi and husband, Stewart Reich, Michael and his wife, Stephanie Woolever, Jennifer and husband, Ryan Hansel, Michelle and Courtney Woolever, Alexis and Joshua Avery; great-grandchildren, Emily and Brandon, Katie. He was a member and past president of the Vestal Junior Chamber of Commerce and was involved in the construction of the wooden lung that could be used in an emergency for an outbreak of Polio in the 1950s. He was a member of the Vestal Jaycee's and was the recipient of the Young Man of the Year in 1951. He was a past president for 2 years with the Vestal Kiwanis Club. He was a past treasurer of the Endicott Girls Club, a member and past treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Vestal Park Cemetery Association. He was also a coach of the Vestal Little League, a retired employee of the United States Postal Service with 30 years of service, and a bookkeeper with Kenneth R. Hancock. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Coast Guard and was a member and past treasurer of the Memorial Park Baptist Church. He was an avid Binghamton Senators Hockey Fan.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal. The Reverend Terry Steenburg will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made in his memory to Memorial Park Baptist Church, 1013 Front Street, Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
