Ethel Jephson, 96, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 1, 2008. She is survived by two sons, James Smith Jephson and Helen Gietz Jephson, Endicott, N.Y., and Robert Owen Jephson and Joan Carol Jephson, Mendham, N.J.; two grandchildren, James W., Vestal, N.Y. and John R., Glenside, Pa., and five great-grandchildren, Dean, Brent, Lee, Christie and Jack. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, George F. Jephson in 1988, and by all of her generation in the family. Born September 15, 1911, she grew up as a farm girl, youngest of three sisters, in Freeport, Illinois. In 1942, with two young boys, they moved to Pelham Manor, N.Y., later to Montclair, Essex Fells and Warren, New Jersey, and retired in Albrightsville, Pa. For fifteen of her later years, she lived in the Pocono Mountains among the wildlife, deer and bears. Mother Jephson had many friends from the Victory Baptist Church, Broadheadsville, Pa. With her strong faith in God, she was always confident that Jesus was at her side. Many thanks to the staff at Hilltop Nursing Home who provided excellent care and those who prayed for her.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, at the Hilltop Campus of the United Methodist Homes, 286 Deyo Hill Road, Johnson City, N.Y. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Albrightsville, Pa., at the convenience of the family.
