Obituary of Gerald R. Thorne

Gerald R. Thorne Brackney, PA: Gerald R. Thorne, 81, of Brackney, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was predeceased by his son, Wayne R. Thorne; daughter-in-law, Diane Thorne; and his parents, Melvin and Katherine Thorne. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rose Thorne; his children, Debbie and Kenny Hatfield, Crestwood, KY, Yvonne Roof, Horseheads, NY, Craig Thorne, Little Meadows, PA, Patty and Jim Boyte, Carthage, NC, Robert and Teresa Thorne, Brackney, PA; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. Gerald was an IBM employee for 33 years, a Deputy Pennsylvania Game Warden for 30 years, the Apolacon Township Supervisor for 15 years and taught hunter safety Instruction. He loved to hunt and spending time in the outdoors with special friends, his children and grandchildren. Gerald found great joy in volunteering at Willow Point Nursing Home taking residents to Sunday morning church. A funeral service will be held at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 765 Main St., Vestal, NY on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Gerald may be made to a charity of one's choice.
