Bernard Eugene "Joe" Bronson
Johnson City: Bernard Eugene Bronson, age 80, of Johnson City, beloved husband of Ursula Bronson, died August 24, 2014 at Willow Point Nursing Home. Bernard retired from IBM Endicott after 31 years and after retirement also worked at Empire Plastics. He had been a volunteer firefighter at the Vestal Center Fire Station, a member of the Vestal school board and National Guard Reserve. He enjoyed politics, traveling to Myrtle Beach with his wife, local stock car racing, and spending time at his lake house on Stanley Lake, which he built with his brother, Kennard. In recent years he could be seen enjoying his morning tea with friends at Wegmans. For many years he was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. The family wishes to say thank you to Dr. Gill for his compassionate care and concern throughout Bernard's life, especially in these last months. He was born on July 11, 1934 in Endicott to Howard and Nora Bronson, both of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Mable Bronson. In addition to his wife of 30 years, Ursula, he is survived by his three children and their spouses, Steve Bronson (Esther) of Johnson City, Mark Canfield (Kay) of Conneaut, OH, and Robbin Lindsay (William) of Waldorf, MD. He is also survived by his brother, Kennard Bronson of Dalton, GA; two nephews, Randy (Martha) and Rusty Bronson; and one niece, Rachel Bronson; cousin, Edward (Joanne) Stevens of Towanda, PA; grandchildren, Steven Canfield (Amanda), Michael Canfield, Shannon Dodge (Ryan), Christopher Canfield (Krystal), Robert Canfield, Ronnie Tarrien, Connie Potkoski (Steve), Mary Rose Totten (Mike), Bonnie Heath (Matt); and several great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home LLC, 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Norma Malfatti, pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to
