Obituary of Joan Fosmire

Joan I. Fosmire, 78, of Apalachin, NY, died at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at The Willow Point Nursing Center in Vestal, NY. She was born May 11, 1936 in Troy, NY, to Richard and Myrtle Kepner. She married Milton E. Fosmire on July 10, 1954 and he preceded her in death in 2011. Surviving are her six children, Richard E. Fosmire, Pamela J. Hitchcock, Joel K. (Melissa Rogers) Fosmire, Julie A. (Thomas) Hitchcock, Susan L. (Dennis) Thomas, and Milton E. (Jessica) Fosmire. There are also 12 grandchildren, Seth D. (Laurie) Fosmire, Chadwick M. (Rebecca) Fosmire, Emily E. (Brian) Wallace, Nick (Andrea) Hitchcock, Thomas (Nicole) Hitchcock, Dustin (Amber) Hitchcock, Kimberly Hitchcock, Austin Schwartz, Joshua Fosmire, Alexandria Fosmire, Brandon Fosmire, and Andrew Fosmire. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, Van Fosmire, Alex Fosmire, Jude Fosmire, Oliver Fosmire, Aiden Wallace, Megan Wallace, Roman Hitchcock, Sophia Hitchcock, Madison Hitchcock, Logan Hitchcock and Kahlia Hitchcock. Joan was a long time resident of the western New York area but moved to Maine after her husband retired returning to her former hometown shortly after his death. She was a member of the Vestal Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved to cook and enjoyed reading and recipes employing various ingredients. A memorial service will be held at 4:00p.m. on November 15, 2014 at the Vestal Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 801 Vestal Parkway West, Vestal, NY 13850.
