Obituary of Frances M. Ebbers

Endicott: Frances M. Ebbers, 84, of Endicott, NY went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2014, after a short struggle with cancer. She was born in Sheboygan, WI on November 30, 1930 to the late Francis and Evelyn Van Dreese. Frances was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Ebbers in 2009 after 58 years of marriage. She is survived by her loving family; son, Timothy and daughter-in-law, Melissa Ebbers of Essex, VT and grandson Jonathan and his wife, Heather and great-granddaughters Lydia and Cora of South Burlington, VT and grandson Peter and his wife, Rachel of Portland, OR; daughters, Elizabeth and son-in-law, John Hiner of Hershey, PA, and grandsons Andrew of Charleston, SC and Grayson of Quantico, VA; Catherine and son-in-law, Stephen Mercier of Londonderry, NH and grandsons Zachary of Portland, ME and James of Londonderry, NH and granddaughter Anna of Londonderry, NH. She graduated from the Sheboygan County Teachers College in 1951 and taught grades 1-8 in a one room school house. After spending many years at home with her children, she worked in a variety of positions in the Union-Endicott School District from 1973-1991. Frances also worked for a time at Wilson Hospital as a unit receptionist on the pediatric ward from 1975-1976. Frances was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Endicott where she was active in the life and missions of the church. She served as an elder and a deacon. She was involved in a variety of groups in the church: Chancel Choir, Christian Education Committee, Sunday School Teacher, Small Group leader, Presbyterian Women's Association, Nursery School Board, Samaritan soup kitchen and the after-school tutoring program. She was also involved in a number of community groups; Susquenango chapter of the US Power Squadron, Endicott Women's Club, Parkinson's Support Group, Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council and the Endicott Childrens' Theater Guild. Her other interests included swimming and exercise at the Johnson City YMCA, sailing, travel, sewing, needlecrafts, attending cultural events in the community and spending time with family and friends. Her strong faith and life of service to others was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by the many lives she touched. Her life will be honored and celebrated at a memorial service on Saturday December 13, 2014 at 11:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 29 Grant Ave., Endicott. The Reverends Timothy and Janice Devine, co-pastors of this church will officiate. Internment will take place in Cedar Grove, WI at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
