Obituary of Richard F. Lavin
Richard F. Lavin, 72, of Maine, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning December 27, 2014. Richard was born in Forest City, PA. He was the son of Edward and Ruth Lavin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas in Korea. Upon returning he married the love of his life, Barbara S. Lavin (surviving), and they were happily married for 50 years. From this love came his pride and joys, his three surviving sons Mark and Julie, Todd, and Daniel. Richard worked at IBM for almost 30 years and then continued to work at SUNY Binghamton for another ten years. He faithfully attended and served at Union Center Christian Church. Richard had two predeceased brothers, Edward Lavin who passed in 2006, and Claude Lavin who passed in 2009. He also has predeceased uncles William Lavin and Willard Dakey, and cousin Linda (Dakey). He is survived by his aunt, Majorie Dakey; cousins, Allen Dakey & Joyce (Dakey); cousin, Gordon; niece, Lisa Clift; nephews, Brian & Jim Lavin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Center Christian Church, 950 Boswell Hill Road, Endicott, NY. Reverend Blake Shipp will officiate. Internment will be held at a later date at Riverhurst Cemetery in Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends and family at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home 300 E. Main Street in Endicott, NY on Friday, January 2, from 4-7 p.m.
