Obituary of Robert J. Reynolds

Endicott: Robert J. Reynolds "Poppy," 76, passed away at Wilson Memorial Hospital, on January 5, 2015, with his family by his side. He had been a resident of Willow Point Nursing Home where the wonderful staff helped him with his Alzheimer's disease. Poppy was predeceased by a son, Kevin; a son-in-law, Thomas Goff; and a brother, Earl. He is survived by his caring wife of 55 years, Yvonne, Endicott, NY; daughter, Debra Goff, Newark Valley, NY; son, Robert Reynolds Jr., Elmira, NY; son, Randy Reynolds (Lorie), Binghamton, NY; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two brothers, Dwight and Richard; and several other family members who loved him very much. Poppy was born in Pennsylvania with his identical twin, Richard. The two always told stories of how they would switch places to trick others, and could always fool the kids. Poppy served in the US Army with the Rangers Special Forces, including duty in Germany. Bob and Yvonne married and eventually settled in Owego, NY to raise their family. He worked at IBM for over 25 years, including working on NASA's space shuttle program. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling and camping, and was lovingly devoted to the care of his son Kevin for several years after an automobile accident in which Kevin acquired a traumatic brain injury. Poppy will be remembered for always being there for his family. Poppy was the best role model for his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids that one could hope for. May you find peace and joy in the words of his loving family, "Oh Bob." A memorial service will be held Saturday at 12 noon from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home LLC, 300 East Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Timothy Bennett will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at noon.
