Obituary of Donald W. Solomon
Donald W. (Donnie) Solomon, 67, of Endicott, passed away January 12, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. He was predeceased by his parents, Doris (Leclair) and William Solomon; grandparents, Florence and Walter Nale; and a nephew, Gregory Solomon. He is survived by his wife, Ellie (Sydow); son, Bradley and significant other Lisa; and his sons, Jonah and John; daughter, Christie Armitage and her children Elana and Nicholas; brothers, Gary (Debbie) and Keith (Debbie); one niece and three nephews. Don was a graduate of SUNY Oswego, and lived his whole life in Endicott. He was employed for many years at Enjoie Golf Course Restaurant and at the Endicott Elks Lodge. After he retired he worked for Top of the Morning Restaurant and D&P payroll. In the afternoon Don enjoyed making his "rounds." He was a member of Endicott Elks Lodge #1977 B.P.O.E., and a member of of Sons of the American Legion Post #1700. Don was a kind, gentle, and generous man, who was loved by many and will be missed by all. He was a avid fan of the NY Mets and NY Giants. He often reminisced about the 1969 World Series, and he loved to play golf. The family would like to the thank Dr. Ron Harris, and the staff at Broome Oncology, UHS Home Care, Twin Tiers Home Health, the staff at South Tower 5 at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center, and Dr. Barrett for their compassionate care of both him and his loved ones. At Don's request there will be no calling hours. There will be a Celebration of Don's life Sunday January 25, 2015 from 1-5PM at American Legion Post #1700 on Maple St., Endicott. There will be a Lodge of Sorrows Service conducted by Endicott Elks Lodge #1977 B.P.O.E. at 3PM at the Legion. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one's choice and consider being a blood donor. Arrangements are by Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home LLC.
