Obituary of Vera Komanowski

Vera Komanowski, 71, of Endicott, daughter of the late Nicholas and Tekla Komanowski, passed away Saturday May 16, 2015 at Lourdes Hospital. She was also predeceased by her sister Alexandra and her two brothers Andrew and Nicholas. She is survived by her sister Olga H Hover, and several nieces and nephews, and her best friend Lois Rubel. Vera graduated from Union-Endicott High School, and the State University at Albany, NY, where she was president of Beta Zeta Sorority, and a member of Myskania the highest governing body of the college. She taught French and Spanish at Maine-Endwell High School, and at Stoneham High School in Stoneham, Mass. for many years. Vera was one of the most giving and caring individuals who put others first before herself. She was a strong advocate of the elderly, and less fortunate people. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11am from Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 210 Hill Ave, Endicott, with Father Alexey Karlgut, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church Wednesday from 10am until service time at 11. Contributions may be made in her memory to the memorial fund of the church.
