Obituary of Bonnie Darby

Bonnie Irene Darby, of Vestal, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 17, at Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital. She was a loving wife of 40 years, mother and grandmother and is survived by her husband, Carl Darby; son, Michael Darby; daughter, Melissa Darby; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Chrissy Darby; daughter, Meagan Darby; six grandchildren, Makenzie Darby, Jocelyn, Austin, Leland, Jayde Darby (David Stacconi), Adam Gurney and his two children, Natalie and Nathaniel; sister, Barbara Gurney; brother, Bruce Gurney; and brother, Bernard Gurney. Bonnie also leaves behind several "adopted" children and grandchildren. Bonnie graduated from Vestal Central High School and was employed by Crowley Foods Inc. until she became a full-time mother and house-wife. She loved her family, crafts, cooking and "old time rock and roll" music. Bonnie had a wonderful smile that could light up a room and was always there for those in need. Services will be held Wednesday, July 22, at the Vestal Center Assembly of God Church (formerly Vestal Center Elementary School) 432 West Hill Road, Vestal. Calling hour from 10 to 11 am, memorial service 11 am until 12 noon followed by a luncheon in the church cafeteria. While we know that she is at peace and that her struggles are at an end, there is much pain and sadness, and though she is gone, she has left the legacy of her love and kindness to many and will forever remain in our hearts. Donations may be given to the Vestal Center Assembly Church or immediate family members.
