Obituary of Janet B Kriswalus

Janet Barbara Kriswalus, 87, of Endicott, NY, died peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the home of her cousin, Carolyne Brown, who lovingly cared for her in her final illness. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 200 Jefferson Avenue, in Endicott, Fr. John Martinichio officiating. Burial will follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park in Vestal, NY. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main Street, Vestal, NY. Janet was born in Vestal, NY to Frank Martin and Leah Mae (Edwards) Helmus on November 3, 1927. She went to Vestal High School, graduating in 1945, and afterwards worked as a secretary at Ansco and later at IBM. She met Andy Kriswalus in 1956, and they were married April 18, 1958. She eventually resigned from IBM, and later became secretary for Andy's business, Kris Model Trains, as well as caring for her home and family. She loved to knit and embroider, and was a long-time pillar of the community of St. Paul's. She was gracious, elegant, and classy, unfailingly generous, patient, and kind, and never until her final illness missed anybody's birthday or anniversary card - ever. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen Lea and Donald Siegel of Edison, NJ, and by innumerable relatives, friends, and loved ones. Although she had only one child, she was "Mom" to many, many more. She is predeceased by her spouse of 35 years, Andrew Kriswalus, and her parents, Frank and Leah Helmus. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, or to a charity of your choice . May her rest be this day in peace, and her dwelling in the Paradise of God.
