Obituary of Jean B. Houston

Jean B. Houston, 85, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2015 at the Susquehanna Nursing Center. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, Robert H. Houston; parents, Lawrence & Doris Blake; brother, Parkman Blake, and sister, Mabel Elmquist. Jean is survived by her children, Kelly (Don) Johnson, Karen (David) Stone, Robert (Elizabeth) Houston, Diane (Kevin) Yeager, Lisa Houston, Lawrence (Julie) Houston, and Francis Houston; grandchildren, Darren Hill, Steven Hill, Sarah Hill, Jennifer (Logan) Gumaer, Renee (Robert) Garner, Melissa (Mihaly) Balazs, Kenneth Houston, Laurel Houston, Lynn Kocick, Thomas (Susanna) Kocick, Alexzandria Yeager, Robert (Roopal) Wark, Erich (Dana) Wark, Shannon Chapman, Heather (Edward) Palmer, Blake Houston, and Hannah Houston; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; brothers, Richard Blake and Lawrence Blake; 11 nieces and nephews and their families. Jean married Bob in 1950 in their home state of Massachusetts. With a growing family and several moves, because of Bob's work, the family finally settled down in their Vestal, NY home. Jean was very talented and creative in stained glass, quilting, embroidery, knitting and cooking. She would volunteer her talents at the Vestal Nursing Center to teach crafts to the residents. Jean loved her family and will be missed dearly. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 300 East Main St., Endicott. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
