Obituary of Elizabeth L. Matthews

Elizabeth L. (Carey) Matthews, 78, of Vestal, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 22, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Anna (Corson) Carey; her brothers, Vaughn (Dorothy Towslee), Marcel F., Franklin Jr., & Douglas (Harriet Thrasher) Carey. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Carey, of Vestal; niece & nephews, David (Linda), Dennis, Tim, & Anna (Frank); many great-nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friend, Joanne Jerauld, of Montrose. Betty was a member of Vestal Center United Methodist Church. She was a retired nurse who loved caring for and comforting her patients. After her hospital nursing, she did home healthcare as long as she was able. The family would like to thank the staff of Susquehanna Nursing Home for the loving care that Betty was given and thank 2 special friends, Carol and Annie. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 765 Main St. Vestal with Rev. Jeff Aiosa, Pastor of her Church officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park following the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, 478 West Hill Rd. Vestal, NY 13850 or to a charity of one's choice in memory of Elizabeth L. (Carey) Matthews.
