Obituary of Mary M. House

Mary Michalek House, of Vestal, born September 23, 1916 and passed away Saturday February 6, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband, James L House Jr.; her parents, Matthew and Mary (Vrablic) Michalek; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) and Charles Takacs; a sister; five brothers and their spouses; several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert VanBurger of Horseheads; grandchildren, Teresa Benjamin (Terry Morrison) of Binghamton, Bryan (Debbie) Takacs, Cherilyn (Brian) Schmalz of Verona, NY and Scott Takacs of Newark Valley, NY; nine great-grandchilren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal and was involved in many charitable organizations. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main St, Vestal. Burial will be in Slovak-Catholic Cemetery, Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 10AM until service time at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of one's choice.
