Obituary of Catherine Bates

Catherine Bates, (Kitty, Kate) Catherine passed away on Christmas Day, 2015 at the age of 84. Kitty was born to Shedrick & Jenny Bates on December 22, 1931. Mom grew up with her sisters Ella, Virginia, Marge & May along with one brother Shedrick. All pre-deceased her except for Virginia, who later died in May. Mom was also pre-deceased by her Son Donald whose children are Donald, Patrick, Joseph, and Brianna. She was also pre-deceased by her Granddaughter Leahann. She was survived by one son: Dennis, and his wife Cathy, whose children are Gerald, Leahann, Dennis and Gloria. Three daughters: Dianna whose children are Amy, Ian, Erin, Joel, Kenny, Pauly and Shelby, Denise whose children are Morton, Matthew and Desmond, and Tonja, and her husband Chuck whose child is Angelea. Catherine also has 19 great-grandchildren, Amy's is Aiden. Ian's are Owen & Braiden. Donnie's are Donnie and Elora. Patrick's are Patrick and Logan. Joes' are Conner, Eoin, Liam, Aiden & Sophia. Brianna's are Evan, and one due June 27th. Gerald's is Keagan. Matthew's are Jack, and Rowan. Angelea's are Zane, and Alexzandria. Mom lived in Endwell, New York, with her daughter, Dianna Lynn, Lenny and Shelby in her final days. Mom always looked forward to baking with Shelby on Thursdays. Previously she lived with her daughter Tonja & Chuck, and her granddaughter Angelea and great grandson Zane, for 10 years. Mom was able to sit back and enjoy life, especially with her great grandson Zane. Zane was the light of her life, she really enjoyed spending time watching him play. Mom also lived in Kissimmee, Florida, her most favorite place to be. There she raised her grandson Desmond from age 7, thru to 18. Mom considered Des her son and thoroughly enjoyed the time she had with him, raising and caring for him was what she wanted to do and would not have it any other way. Catherine enjoyed her children most, she loved being there for them and doing whatever she could to help them out. Mom also spent time reading and crocheting. She was an excellent cook and loved the times when we would all come for dinner. Mom loved showing us around Florida and bringing us to all the hot spots, Disney, Busch Gardens, Silver Springs and Cape Canaveral. Kitty always looked forward to catching up on the phone with her cousin Alice and her sisters whenever they could. Alice especially, would always get her laughing. Mom loved when her sisters came to visit, it was the highlight of her life. Mom was also a big advocate of A.A. and was a mentor whenever the need arose. Catherine was married twice, Donald Delaney and John Wallace. Both her husbands loved her to the end. Don would do anything for Kay and did many times in their life. John is Tonja Kays' father and in the end was her friend and loved her very much. Catherine was loved by all in her family, and will be missed. A Memorial service is planned at the Fultonham estate on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Directions: From I-88 take the Schoharie/Middleburgh exit, follow Rte. 30 into Middleburgh take a right at the light and bare left after bridge. Proceed 5-6 miles on Right. If you hit the rest area you went too far. From the NYS Thruway take the Catskill exit to 23 West, to Rte. 145 into Middleburgh, at lite go straight over bridge and bare left. Continue 5-6 miles on Right.
