Obituary of Herbert F. Corey

Vestal: Herbert Corey, age 94, went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2016 after a brief illness. He was born on April 7, 1922 in Endicott, NY. He was predeceased by his first wife Beverly in 1981 and his second wife Jane in 2014. He is survived by his son Dan (Nancy) Corey of VT., daughters Renee (Jeff) Johnson of CT., and Sharon Corey of Vestal, as well as step-daughter Cindy (Michael) Mrva of Vestal and step-son Paul (Andrea) Stratton of Arkansas. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members. Herb was a World War II veteran. He served in the Navy and was stationed at a naval air base in England for the duration of the war. When he returned stateside in 1946, he took a job at IBM where he worked until his retirement in 1984. For many years Herb was an active member of the Free Methodist Church in Vestal and later New Life Ministries in Endicott. He was generous with his time, talents and resources in service to the church and he set an example for his children and grandchildren of what it means to lead a Godly life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to International Child Care Ministries, 770 North High School Road, Indianapolis, IN 46214. Memorial services and military honors will be held at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 765 Main Street, Vestal on Saturday, July 23 at 11 am with Reverend Rob Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of the services.
