Obituary of Gerald W. Maslin

Gerald (Jerry) W. Maslin, 89, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2016 at the Mercy House of the Southern Tier. He is predeceased by his parents, Ernest & Clella Maslin; and sister, Phyllis Costley. Jerry is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 67 years, Dolores (Sanzo), and his three children, Gerald D. Maslin, Denise (Bill) Huson, and Linda Wilson. He will be loved and missed by his 7 grandchildren, Jeff, Amy, Matthew, Ian, Greg, Alyssa, and Alex; his precious great-granddaughter, Autumn; sister, Helen (Glen) Barnhart; twin brothers, Earl (Barb) Maslin and Ernest (Carolyn) Maslin; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry proudly served in the U. S. Navy in WWII. He lived and worked in a number of places. His favorite time was spent in County Cork Ireland, where he and Dolores made many friends and had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. Jerry enjoyed hunting, playing golf and his hobby of stained glass, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. His generous nature and knowledgeable advice, guided his children and grandchildren. Jerry, Dad, Grandpa will be missed and loved by all. The family wants to thank his caregivers, Lourdes at Home, Lourdes Hospice and especially, Mercy House where he was so lovingly welcomed in and allowed to pass on so peacefully. Donations to this wonderful Home are encouraged. The Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 765 Main St., Vestal, NY.
