Obituary of Eugene R. Rogers

Eugene R. Rogers, 96, of Endwell, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, November 27, 2016, at Wilson UHS Hospital. His beloved wife - Gertrude L. Rogers of 62 years, passed away in 2004. Eugene is survived by sister-in-law Lois Marrer, Endwell, and brother-in-law, Victor Giles, Arizona and many devoted nieces and nephews. During the Great Depression he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Eugene worked for IBM for 40 years. Mr. Rogers served in the US Marine Corps during WWII with the 5th Division at Iwo Jima as an Intelligence Staff Sergeant. He was an accomplished artist and award winning wood carver. Eugene was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church Endicott and the Marine Corps League, and a former Post Commander of VFW Post #1449 of Endicott. A 10:00 a.m. Visitation followed by an 11:00 a.m Funeral Mass for Eugene R. Rogers will be held Thursday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 701 W. Main St, Endicott. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell.
