Obituary of Sandra Blackwell

Sandra L. Blackwell, 81, of Endicott passed away peacefully on May 22, 2017 after a short illness. She is predeceased by her Mother, Wilma Strickland, and father and mother-in-law, Harold and Mildred Blackwell, all of Endicott. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard, three children Mark (Carol) Blackwell, Kelly (David) Blazavich, and Randy Blackwell. The pride of her life were her five grandchildren, who lovingly called her Mema, Amy (Rick) Petrucelli, Kimberly (Matt) Schofield, Michael Blackwell, Shannon and Derek Blazavich. She also was Mema to six great grandchildren, Aiden, Sophia, Savanna Petrucelli, and Marco, Natalie, and Elena Schofield, as well as several nieces and cousins. Sandie worked for 41 years at the Union-Endicott High School, in the cafeteria and as a lunch monitor. In that time she touched the lives of thousands of students, who affectionately referred to her as "Grandma". She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family meant the world to her, often traveling all over the state to attend various sporting events and functions to support her grandchildren. Always with a smile and a kind word, her laughter would brighten any day. She will be missed by many. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 27 at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main Street, Endicott from 2-4 PM with services immediately following. The family would like to thank the medical staffs in both the ER and ICU at Wilson Hospital for the wonderful care she received.
