Obituary of Winifred E. Shriver
Winifred Eunice Shriver, left her earthly home at 92 years of age to join her beloved Saviour in Heaven. Although she endured many years of physical suffering, she always had time to help and care for others. She is survived by her husband, Ken Shriver; her daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Stew Bennett; her son, Rick Shriver and Rick's girlfriend, April Edwards; her grandchildren, Mike and Marykate Bennett; and her sister, Jane Fullerton, all dearly loved by her. There are numerous nieces and newphews, who she also loved. Daugher, Carol Shriver and son, Donald Shriver, preceded her in death. Winnie is a graduate of Cairn University and CEF Institute in California. Prior to college, Winnie was a choir member and soloist for the Little White Church's "Down Memory Lane" TV program. She served as Assistant Director of Mountain Brook Girls Camp, and CEF Director for Cambria County, PA. Upon marriage to Ken Shriver, in 1951, she returned to the Little White Church and resumed her ministry with the TV choir. She also became the Released Time Director. She served as the teacher for the college age youth. While at the Little White Church, she joined the local Gideons International ministry and became an officer and eventually became Vice President and then President of the whole NYS Gideon Auzillary organization. Thiry eight years ago, she bacame a member of the Twin Orchard Baptist Church, now the Grace Point Church. There she developed a womens ministry and served as a counselor to women, after receiving training at Liberty University. In later years, while confined to a power wheel chair, she served as a volunteer for 12 years at Guthrie's Robert Packer Hospital. In 2008, she and her husband were selected as the Volunteer Couple of the Year. This year, she and her husband quietly, but with great joy, celebrated their sixty-six wedding anniversary. A viewing will be held at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 300 E. Main St., Endicott, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.. A Funeral Service will be held at the Grace Point Church, 3701 Vestal Road, Vestal, on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Paul Blasko, Pastor Emeritus of Grace Point Church speaking. A luncheon will be held after the service. Burial services will be private at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal.
