Obituary of Raymond E. Martin

Martin, Raymond E. View/Sign Guest Book Raymond E. Martin of Apalachin Raymond E. Martin, 76, of Apalachin, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009, after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Martin; his sisters, Dorothy Craig, Helen Ely and Evelyn Garrison. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; his stepdaughter, Melissa Foulke (James Barnes), Binghamton; his sisters, Mary Shattuck, Endicott, Marian (Roger) Barton, Apalachin; and three generations of nieces and nephews; also a special great-great-nephew, Ethan (Little Bone Head) O'Brien, Tacoma, WA. He was a lifelong member of Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Margaret Mary's Church, Apalachin, where he served as a money counter for 35 years. Ray enjoyed a simple and contented life on his farm in Apalachin. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. With gratitude, the family wishes to thank James Hebler and daughter, Barbara for their important part in caring for Ray by the generous opening of their home to him and his wife. And also to express their appreciation for the kind and compassionate care of Dr. Mark Epstein, Dr. James Dellaville and all the staff of Lourdes Hospice involved with his care, especially Peg, Sharon, Dixy, Sister Fredrica, Deacon Joe, Stephanie; and special friends, Ruth, Zena and the Sorber Family. We would like to thank the staff at Wilson Hospital in Ambulatory Surgery, the Operating Room, the Recovery Room, ICU, the Neuro Suite and North Tower 2. We would also like to thank Dr. Bajwa M.D. for his care and compassion. A Funeral Mass for Ray will be offered on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 7 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish at St. Margaret Mary's Church, Pennsylvania Ave., Apalachin, NY. The Rev. Fr. William Moorby will officiate. Burial will be at the family's convenience in St. Thomas Cemetery, Little Meadows, PA. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. Those wishing may make contributions in Ray's memory to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850 or to a charity of one's choice.
