Obituary of Betty J Wagstaff

Betty J. Wagstaff went to join her Lord and her parents, Orenious Simpson and Mary Ashley on Tues, November 14th, 2017 surrounded by her children. Betty was born March 14, 1936 in Massena, NY. In 1953 she met her husband and partner for life, Henry C. Wagstaff, Jr. who predeceased her in 2015. She followed him through his 23 years in the US Army which lead her to live in many place around the world and they were married for 63 years. She leaves behind her brother, Robert Simpson and prior to her passing lost several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Deborah Benedict (Dave); Henry C. Wagstaff III; Timothy Wagstaff; and Shannon Thompson (John). Also 9 grandchildren whom she adored … Shannon Supa Jones, Richard Supa, twins Colleen and Kelsey McCabe, Mary Margaret Wagstaff, Heather Cartier, twins Rich and Chip Wagstaff, and Brian Wagstaff. Also 7 great-grandchildren … Noah and Ashley Cartier, Kennedy Jones (Oma's little homemaker), Sophie Pelletier, and the youngest ones: Emmet, Maddy & Owen Wagstaff. Betty is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks through my final journey to Rose Kolosna and niece, Bev Flint. Betty lead an interesting life with many career choices: nursing school in Waynesville, MO; surgical dept. at Waynesville Hospital; most people will most remember Betty as a phlebotomist at Wilson Memorial Hospital for many years. She was also the first meter maiden for the JCPD in 1986. Later on in life she became quite the computer whiz enjoying creative card making and photo albums of her beloved family. Betty was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post 0357 in Hallstead, Pa. and St. Martins Catholic Church in Jackson, Pa. where she and Henry resided. Betty also had many friends through her adventures at Bingo. Betty wants to say to her family at this time, "Do not be sad for me today, be happy that I have gone home. I'll see you all again in God's house. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017 at 3:30 for family, and friends are welcome from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Coleman and Daniels, 300 E. Main St., Endicott, NY. Service will be officiated by Father Clarence Rumble. In lieu for flowers the family requests that donations be made to MERCY HOUSE, 212 N. McKinley Ave., Endicott, NY 13760.
