Obituary of Janie R Iddings

Binghamton - Jane R. Iddings, 69, of Port Dickinson, passed quickly and unexpectedly from her life of suffering into the glorious presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, April 13, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Maryetta Ropecka, and her father-in-law, Alvin Iddings. She leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Wayne Iddings, mother-in-law Jean Iddings, a sister Lois (Jeff) Pulcini, and a brother, Joel (Adrienne) Ropecka, as well as dearly-loved nieces and nephews Elizabeth Pulcini, Amanda (Pulcini) Edmondson, Amber (Ropecka) Dial, Breanna Ropecka, Brandy (Magill) Fetter, Jacob Ropecka, Ethan Ropecka, Joshua Iddings, Luke Iddings, Jamie (Amy) Magill, Keith Magill, Jeremy Magill, Mark (Ashley) Iddings, Matthew (Julie) Iddings, and 13 grand-nieces and nephews. Janie was an incredibly compassionate and insightful person, who found her greatest joys in giving to others. She always saw far beyond the surface of problems and tried to respond to the deeper needs of people, including the need for trusting Christ for salvation, without being pushy or overbearing. She came to know the Lord as her Savior as a teenager, and served Him well through her life, at various times teaching Sunday School, helping with youth groups, singing in the choir, planning weddings, and preparing and serving huge church dinners. When she became disabled, her heartfelt ministries included arranging to send flowers to sick or bereaved people, maintaining phone contact with others who were shut-in, and offering encouragement when needed. Janie was especially thankful for her doctors and health care workers, whose kindness and compassion where bright spots in her life. Deepest thanks to Christina Signs, Lisa Rossi, Filene Travis, and the entire Lourdes Wound Care staff, Dr. Ron Grant (Sally), Dr. Palak Patel (Ellen), Dr. Susan Jackson (Laurie), and Dr. Timothy Howland (Kristen). Carried in her heart, and spoken to anyone who would listen, were the words of Ephesians 4:32, "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." She exemplified Prov 31:10-12, "Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life." Calling hours are 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, April 17, at Bethel Baptist Church, 300 N. Jensen Rd., Vestal, NY 13850. The funeral will be at the church at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 18. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church. Arrangements by Coleman and Daniels, Endicott, NY
