Obituary of Charles V. Briggs

Vestal - On Sunday, April 15, 2018, Charles V. "Chuck" Briggs, 77 of Vestal, NY, passed away unexpectedly. Chuck was a man built of integrity, and always put the needs of others before his own. He was heavily relied on by family and friends for everything from auto mechanics to carpentry - never asking for anything in return. His simple gestures were always the most telling, whether it was just a call to see how you were doing or a quick visit. After retiring from a successful career of over 30 years at Lockheed Martin, Chuck spent his days with his wife of 58 years, Marjorie. His greatest joy was caring for his grand and great grandchildren. Every spring was spent with family and friends traveling across the country to NASCAR, and summers at a cottage on Sandy Pond. He was a true friend to so many, and infamous for his stubborn streak. Chuck was proud of his family, and supportive in every way imaginable. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Marjorie, children Chuck Briggs of Fort Worth, Texas and daughter Terri Cook and her husband David of Vestal, N.Y., his four grandchildren, Brandon Balles and wife Ashley, Courtney Brown and husband Mike, Justin Cook and wife Abby and Zach Cook as well as four great-grandchildren, Brielle and Madelyn Balles and Everly and Penelope Brown. He is also survived by his sister Myrna Vlasak and husband Frank and his sister Mary Card and in-laws Mark and Kathy Seymour, Patricia Purdy and Jay and Marla Purdy. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniel Funeral Home, 765 Main Street, Vestal, New York on Thursday April 19, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at Coleman and Daniel Funeral Home 765 Main Street, Vestal, New York.
