Obituary of Phyllis Audrey Petras
Phyllis A. Petras
Endwell - Phyllis (Davis) Petras, of Endwell, NY, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 surrounded by her family who loved her very much. Phyllis was born on January 23, 1932 in Binghamton, NY. She had many happy memories of growing up on West End Avenue with her father, mother and sisters. Phyllis was a wonderful wife and mother. Along with her beloved husband of 60 years, she created a home filled with warmth, encouragement, laughter, freedom to explore and unconditional love for her 5 children. She was a youthful, kind-hearted and adored grandma who could read Pokemon guides for hours and joyfully and intently listened to all of the stories of her grandchildren's lives. Phyllis loved reading (especially mysteries), perches where she could watch the world go by, picnics, 'sustainers' (a candy bar to sustain you on the way home from shopping), people, discussing politics, mochas, watching TV 'episodes' and Yankees games with Fred, and rollerskating on newly paved roads. Her compassion, curiosity and caring will be deeply missed. Phyllis leaves her husband, Fred; her sister, Diane Millham; her children: Stephen (Carol) Petras, Ellen (Dave) Schultz, Lisa (Chris) Joseph, Andrew Petras, Amy (Jeff) Hart; her grandchildren: Jennifer Creasey, Jenna, Andy and Clara Schultz, Audrey and Rachel Joseph; and her great-grandson: Jake Creasey; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Della Davis, and her sister, Marie Gialanella. Phyllis requested a private service and burial. Memorial contributions can be made to Penn Mar Human Services, 310 Old Freeland Road, Freeland, MD 21053. Please direct your gift to the PA programs.
