Obituary of Henry Hawver

Endwell - Henry (Hank) W. Hawver, Jr. 07/13/1939 - 06/22/2018. Born in Oneonta, NY, grew up in Unadilla, NY. Predeceased by his parents Henry W. Hawver, Sr. and Gertrude (Cooper) Hawver. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth E. (Snedaker) Hawver, son Michael (Dr. Cynthia Edwards) Hawver, daughter Linda (Alan) Bennett, grandchildren Morgan, Trudi, Jackson, Thomas and Lucas, sister Ann (Gordy) Birdsall and several nieces and nephews. Hank graduated from Unadilla High School in 1958 and then served in the US Navy from 1958-1961. Hank then worked at Singer Link in Quality Assurance, where he met Betty. He retired in 1993. He was a volunteer in the Endwell Fire Department where he served as the department photographer (Photo 31) for 27 years. He had a multitude of hobbies which included photography, civil war reenactments, music of all kinds and was a big supporter of his children and grandchildren in band. He also dabbled in the harmonica. He was a train enthusiast, loved auto racing (Watkins Glen), fishing, bird watching and nature in general. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at the Endwell Fire Station 1, 3508 Country Club Road, Endwell, NY 13760. Hank wanted us to do a PSA for him since the beginning of when he was diagnosed with colon cancer. So, on his behalf: GET YOUR COLON CANCER SCREENING ASAP - DON'T PUT IT OFF.
