Obituary of Joseph L Hubik

Joseph (Joe) Hubik, 74, of Binghamton passed away peacefully on August 31, 2018. Joe was predeceased by his loving parents, Leo and Dorothea Hubik, sister Rosemary Buza and his loving mother-in-law, Evelyn Aton. Surviving is his beloved wife of 53 years, Marilyn, daughter Celeste Cleary, husband Keith, granddaughter Victoria, daughter Heather Matyas and granddaughter Isabella. He is survived by sisters -in-law's and brother's in-law Diane and Ronald Sawchuk, Suzanne and Frank Dabrovolskis, and Douglas and Sharon Aton, cousins Leo and Judy Hubik, Eraldo and Ann Marie D'Orsogna, Margaret Mary and Edward Wilson, nieces, nephews, their families and many dear friends. Joe graduated from Simmons School of Mortuary Science and was a funeral director for over 50 years with more than 30 years of service at J.F. Rice Funeral Home, providing comfort to countless families. Joe was a charter member of the Binghamton West Kiwanis Club and a long time parishioner of Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish. You could find Joe and Marilyn most Tuesday nights at Mapes Auction. He and Marilyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, which included frequent dinner parties, evenings with special friends and extensive travel throughout the United States, Europe and China. He demonstrated his devotion to family with his constant loving support of Marilyn and the care of her mother, Evelyn. His pride and joy was on display when he celebrated the accomplishments of daughters and granddaughters, having attended dozens of dance recitals, EPAC performances and UE sporting events.
