Obituary of Joseph F. Carriere
Vestal - Joseph F. Carriere, 92, of Vestal, passed away after a short illness, Thursday, September 6th. He is predeceased by his wife Patricia, his parents Hermana Desjardins and Joseph E. Carriere, sister Dorothy Fuller, daughter Yvonne Brodsky and granddaughter Deborah David. He is survived by two children, Cynthia Racette (Richard), Edmond Carriere (Doris), nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and beloved companion Winnifred Fegan. He graduated from Clarkson University and was employed as an electrical engineer for NYSEG. He served during WW 11 in the European theatre earning many medals including the Purple Heart. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He was active in the community teaching English to immigrants, helping seniors with filing tax returns and serving as secretary of the Babe Ruth Baseball League. He had a passion for learning, taking courses over the computer and taking cooking lessons. He was treasurer of the Widow/Widowers Club. He raised both race and show horses. Interment will be at Vestal Hills Cemetery on Monday, September 10th at 1 pm and a memorial service on Monday, September 17th at 11 am at the Northminster Presbyterian Church located at 711 Farm to Market Road, Endwell, NY 13760. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Broome County Humane Society.
