Very fond memories as a parent of a first grader and the pleasure of being grade Mom! Loved Lola’s zest for life and the her celebration of rolling out the piano into the halls of Homer Brink and playing for everyone!

I taught with Lola at Homer Brink, and always loved walking past her lively classroom
where the children were often enthusiastically singing with Lola playing the piano. Lola didn't do anything half way, including teach. If a child or the class needed a scolding, Lola would tell them, "and you're lucky I'm not really angry". The children would be shaking in their boots. Sometimes Lola would close the door to her room and hand out gum to everyone. Of course, gum was not allowed in school at that time. She would tell the children not to tell that they were breaking the school rule.
It must have been great fun to be a first or second grader in Lola's class. It sure was great fun to teach with her. I will always remember her fondly.
