Obituary of Joseph A. Simeck

Joseph A. Simeck went to be with the Lord our God & Savior on December 15, 2019. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Anita J. (Hancharik) Simeck. Joe was also predeceased by his father & mother, John & Helen (Schneider), his brother Raymond (Bud), his sister Joan (Joanie) Ruffo, & his brother James (Jim), & brothers & sisters-in-law William, Lena, Tony, & Josie. Joe is survived by 3 children, Joseph (Joey), Paula Hartford, & MaryEllen Schilling, her husband Charles (Chuck), grand daughter Kelsey, her husband Zac, & grandson Garrett, & 2 great grand children, Zachary & Jagger. He is also survived by his sister, Charlene (Char) Lasky, his sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Ann Marie & Eraldo, & many nieces and nephews. Joe was born in Binghamton, NY in 1935. Joe grew up in the 1st ward in Binghamton on Mygatt St, then on Prospect St. Joe attended Sts. Cyril & Methodius Grammar School, then graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1953. Joe met the great love of his life, Anita in 1952. They married in 1956. Joe entered the IBM toolmaker apprenticeship program which led him to a long career at IBM Endicott as a mechanical engineer. Joe also attended Broome Technical (Community) College where he earned his degree in engineering. Joe was an avid bowler from the 60's thru the 80's, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Joe loved pies & ice cream, (his eyes would light up)! Joe also enjoyed watching his beloved New York Yankees with his wife. Joe was a devout Roman Catholic & life long member of the Church of the Holy Trinity (formerly St Anne's). Joe was also a church trustee, & assisted in the merger of St. Annes, St. Stanislaus, & St Joseph's churches. Joe most especially enjoyed being a long time member of the Holy Trinity choir. Special thanks to cousin Ron Yurecka of Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home of Endicott, NY. Visiting hours for Joe will be held at the Church of the Holy Trinity at 346 Prospect St in Binghamton on Thursday January 2nd, 2020 at 10:00am. Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. The family will host a brunch for family & friends at McGirk's Irish Pub at 1 Kattelville Rd, Binghamton (Chenango Bridge) at approx 1:00pm In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to the Church of the Holy Trinity, & the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
