Obituary of Richard Kenney

Vestal - Richard (Dick) Leon Kenney, 82, of Vestal, NY passed away on January 22, 2021 after a long battle with Dementia/Alzheimer's. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Kenney, son Jeffery Kenney, mother and father Bess (Conover) and Leon F. Kenney and sister Joan Gardner. He is survived by his sons, Michael (Tess) Kenney, David (Kelly) Kenney, grandsons Patrick (Amanda), Josh, Joey and Ryan, sister-in-law Patricia (Todd) Storm, niece Sara (Jeremy) Burchell, great niece Emma Burchell and nephews Kenny and Tim Gardner. Dick served 20 yrs. in the Army Reserve. He loved taking care of his vegetable garden, playing horseshoes and being inducted into the local Tri-County Horseshoe Club Hall of Fame. He was also selected to a Second Team position on the All-American Basketball Squad of the National Junior College Athletic Association for the year 1959-60 at Broome Tech. Community College. He loved camping with his family and friends, sitting around the campfire, taking his grandsons fishing and hiking. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports and he was their biggest fan. He always encouraged his family to "Go with the Flow." He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Burial will take place in a private service with family. Please consider a donation in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Association.
