I did not know Mr. Murray, but I felt compelled to write after reading his obituary. What an amazing life. D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, the Gemini and Apollo space programs, and ARPANET. He seemed to have had a Forrest Gump-like presence in many of the twentieth century’s major events. It’s hard to imagine what the world would be today if people like Mr. Murray had not prevailed in all of these endeavors. From a local perspective, I’ve always admired tiny Campville’s impressive fire station and almost-as-tiny Candor’s wonderful book sales at the library. And now I know who was behind these too. Godspeed, Mr. Murray. I wish peace for you and your family.
