Obituary of William J. Oneil
William James Oneil, 82, passed into the loving arms of the Lord on February 28, 2021. He is survived by his loving, caring soul mate and wife of 58 years, June Cherro Oneil; his loving, devoted children, Timothy, Sharon Oneil, Todd, Michelle Oneil and Tracy, James Moran; his eight beautiful grandchildren Cameron, Nicholas Oneil, Riley, Seth Oneil, James, Callie, Chelsie, Robert Moran. They were the light of his life and he loved them dearly. He was very proud of their accomplishments and holds them in a special place in his heart. He was very proud of his children and cherished every moment they were able to spend together through the years. He is survived by his loving sister Mary and Walton Burdick, brother David Oneil and brother-in-law Robert Craig and his loving niece Diana and Kevin Kresge. He is also survived by many loving, special, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and former coworkers. He was predeceased by his loving family: parents William G. and Irene Oneil; brother Edward and Faye Oneil and his sister Suzanne Craig and his niece Laurie Oneil. He was also predeceased by his loving father and mother-in-law Angelo and Eve Cherro. He was currently a member of Church of the Holy Family in Endwell. He participated in many activities and attended weekly sessions at the Prayer Chapel. He was a devoted family man and always put the happiness of his family first. He never hesitated to say "I love you" and showed it in a thousand ways. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a twinkle in his eyes. He attended all of the games, plays and award ceremonies of his children and grandchildren and cheered them on. He was a Little League Coach. He enjoyed bowling in a league. He became a STAC Football Referee and truly loved officiating the games and the after-game camaraderie. He was employed by GE, Crowley Milk Co. and retired from IBM. After retirement, he worked part time for Visions Federal Credit Union for 20 years and made many special friends there. We are so thankful that he was our loving husband, father and grampy and that he imparted to us the daily love of God, his values, and loving memories that we will carry in our hearts forever. Bill and June enjoyed a wonderful life together. The family went to Wildwood and Cape May for a week each summer and they visited many Amusement Parks and rode the Roller Coasters. Bill and June have had lovely trips to Jamaica, Bahamas, Italy, France, England, Switzerland, Ireland, Hawaii and Bermuda at different times. They enjoyed a lovely Princess Cruise to Grand Turk, St. Thomas, Curacao, St. Maarten and another wonderful Cruise to Aruba, Antigua and Barbados to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. They've made several trips to Niagara Falls in Canada and to Las Vegas, NV. They also visited Branson, Missouri and Charleston, SC. They took regular trips to Lancaster, PA and loved to attend the Sight and Sound Theater, Dutch Apple Dinner Theater and the American Music Theater. They have taken many Bus Trips to NYC enjoying wonderful Broadway Shows and sightseeing. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday March 5, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Church of the Holy Family, Endwell. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Church Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
