Obituary of Michael F Devine

Michael F. Devine Jr. Michael F. Devine Jr. of Endicott, NY Our Lord and savior called his son, Michael home on October 31, 2009. "Mike" went to sleep at home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Michael F. Devine Sr.; his mother and best friend, Edith (Monroe) Devine; his sister, Margaret Considine and brother-in-law, Hubert Pratt. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his four children, Kelly Devine (Butch Roberts), Kim Devine (Ray Iannone), Nicole Devine (Donny Bedford) all of Endicott and Michael Devine III (Stacy) of Amissville, VA; as well as his four wonderful grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob and Alaina Devine and Wyatt Roberts. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, James Devine, Agnes Joyce, Martin Devine (Helen), Terrance Devine (Phyllis); and his very special sister, Patricia Pratt who could always make him laugh even when he didn't feel like laughing. Mike spent his life always trying to make "things" more beautiful or useful. He enjoyed taking old furniture or found items that others would consider to be trash and reveal the treasure beneath. Before retiring, he enjoyed his chosen profession of auto reconditioning. Many a used car was coaxed by Mike to reveal a hidden beauty for some lucky buyer at the car lot to see. He was a lover of animals and will be greatly missed by "Little Bits", "Rocky" and "Murph". Being retired was okay by him as he used all that spare time to watch old westerns or war movies, to have a beer at Stu's or watch his favorite baseball team play, the only baseball team that mattered, the NY Yankees. His family will receive friends at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main St in Endicott on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 3-6 pm. A memorial service will follow calling hours at 6 pm. Special thanks to Dr.Harris, the staff of Broome Oncology and the Lourdes Hospice volunteers and professionals.
